Legislation we support

An Act Regarding Free Expression (SD.141/HD.625)

When signed into law, An Act regarding free expression would prevent book removal due to personal or political views in public and school libraries. Further, it would empower school librarians and teachers to determine access to age-appropriate materials in school libraries. Public libraries would be required to adopt the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights. The legislation would also protect librarians from retaliation.

An Act relative to healthy youth (SD.2048/HD.947)

The Healthy Youth Act is needed to:

Collect data on sexual health education in schools

Ensure routine updates to the Comprehensive Health and PE Framework

Require that sex education is medically accurate, age-appropriate, and LGBTQ+ inclusive

Menstrual Equity Agenda
(HD.1552, HD.2344, HD.2729)

These would ensure access to free menstrual products to all menstruating individuals in public schools and other public buildings. The bill also contains language to ensure the products are truly accessible without stigmatizing the individual seeking them.
